How long is the recovery process?With no drilling or pain medications that can make you feel low on energy, you'll be feeling normal after your session is complete.

How is dental ozone delivered in patient care?The primary forms of ozone applications that we use are ozonated water and pure oxygen/ ozone gas.

Is ozone toxic?When used properly, the strong oxidant is not harmful to normal healthy cells. As far as any potential side effects, they do rarely happen but it is something to be mindful about - such as burning eyes, coughing, nausea, lightheadedness, and a possible headache.

Dr. Ann Shui will provide a consultation to determine whether or not your child would be a good candidate for HealthyStart® . During this visit, we will also discuss the HealthyStart® process, how HealthyStart® works and the likely HealthyStart® cost for you. This way you have all the information you need to make an informed decision.

If your child is a good candidate, Dr. Ann Shui will discuss with you the details of putting together a customized plan to ensure optimal results from the HealthyStart® System for your child.

First Phase: This appliance eliminates or improves current oral habits that can damage your child’s dental health. They wear the appliance at night while sleeping. The design is similar to that of a pacifier and your child will become used to wearing the device in their mouth every night. This appliance is worn for about 1 to 5 months.

Second Phase: During this phase, your child will receive a customized appliance that is sized to your child for them to wear every night. It aids the incoming teeth into their proper places, corrects jaw relations and expands your child’s arches for their incoming adult teeth. They will wear this device for about 2 to 6 months.

Final Phase: This phase begins with an appliance that accommodates incoming adult teeth. We like to start this phase when your child has at least 4 permanent teeth. This phase is important because his or her adult teeth are forming and the gum tissue fibers are starting to attach the teeth in the mouth. HealthyStart® works to make sure that the teeth erupt into the proper alignment.
